Child Registration Adopted 2000
The responsibly for registering a child lies with the FOMO Centre committees based in Mulanje District of Malawi.
A FOMO beneficiary is a person between the ages of 2 and 16 years
Criteria for registration as a FOMO beneficiary:
The Child must:
- live in Mulanje District of Malawi
- be classed as finically vulnerable, ( i.e. the child’s combined family income must be at or below the minimum wage)
- have lost both parents or have lost their mother
- attend school either FOMO nursery, state primary or state or FOMO secondary school
A child under the age of 16 and has a disability may register a FOMO beneficiary.
A child with a disability and who registered before their 16th year may continue to receive benefits from FOMO.
A child registered before their 16 year may continue to receive benefits from FOMO , providing they in full time education (ie Standard one to 8 or form 1 to 4.)
A child that does not attend the nominated FOMO centre on a regular basis will be deregistered as a FOMO child.
All children between the ages of 2 and 6 years may attend a FOMO nursery. Children that meet the above criteria 1,2 and 3 may attend the nursery free of charge. Children between the ages of 2 and 6 years who do not qualify for a free place will pay a nominal amount set by the individual FOMO centre committee.
